Cross-domain vignette · Maya · 34 · integrated case

Maya presents with three months of low mood, poor sleep and withdrawal after a relationship breakdown. Late in session she discloses passing thoughts that others would be better off without her — but cites her daughter as a reason she would never act. She asks you not to document anything that could affect a custody matter.

Common questions

What is the NPE?

The National Psychology Exam is a written examination required for general registration as a psychologist in Australia under the 5+1 internship pathway. Provisional psychologists must pass the NPE to progress from provisional to general registration.

Who is this program for?

Provisional psychologists in the 5+1 pathway preparing for the NPE. The program is not designed for the 4+2 pathway, though clinicians seeking a structured review of NPE domains have found it useful.

How is this different from PPRC or other prep resources?

PPRC offers domain bundles at similar price points (~$499 AUD). This program is authored from a clinician perspective — the emphasis is not on passing a test but on building the integrated reasoning the exam is testing. Case vignettes cut across domains, and explanations address why wrong answers are wrong, not just what the right answer is. The OSCE-NPE-DSM suite also supports candidates sitting multiple exams in the same registration cycle.

How much does it cost?

AUD $499 including GST. 12 months access. One-time payment — not a subscription.

Is this affiliated with AHPRA or the Psychology Board of Australia?

No. This is an independent educational resource. The Psychology Board of Australia's official exam specifications and preparation advice remain the authoritative source for NPE requirements.

Can I use this alongside the OSCE program?

Yes — and that is the intended use for many candidates. The OSCE and NPE overlap in several domains (assessment, ethics, intervention). Purchasing both gives you integrated coverage across both exam formats. A bundle discount is planned for launch.
